I’m such an organisational freak I love anything stationary and notebooks, and this should come no surprise that I love making lists, whether that’s for shopping, uni or literally anything! I recently got my friends into making lists as well and they seems to be enjoying it and says it works for them and helps with productivity! I thought what better way to share my love for lists and note-taking and why it’s actually very useful than write a post on it!

Firstly, lists make you feel manageable of the thing you need to get done and you feel grounded as it’s there written in front of you. This also links to lists being very visually pleasing and easy to look at and take in as their written in note form. Lists can be used for anything and everything! For example these are couple examples I use lists for; organising uni readings I need to get done, blog posts I need to shoot, what I need to buy, books I want to read and recipes I want to try out. These are just some ideas that I use my lists for, as mentioned above it’s very flexible and can be used for anything and suitable for anyone’s needs!

Lists are a method of organisation that is more psychological than practical. This is because seeing everything on pen and paper makes managing the work more easy and simplified and it results in spending less time on each of the tasks as there’s less risk of procrastination. Making lists also aids with effective productivity as you would want to finish the first task before crossing that out and moving onto the next, which affects productivity performance positively!

In addition to this, studies showed that the human brain loves ordered things and seeing it in an ordered manner which is always a plus for when using lists! Making lists can be such a stress reliever as well as you can make lists for simple things like, a gratitude list, things you’ve achieved that year/month, simple things that make you happy. Writing out lists helps easily short term goals like daily chores and makes long term goals more manageable and approachable! Last but not least, making lists helps to take action with the stuff you have to do and start actually doing them rather than thinking about where to start and how to do it!

Hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and it was somewhat useful for you, comment down below if you use lists in your daily life and how useful it is for you!

  1. I love stationery and collect a vast amount of notebooks but probably don’t make as many lists as I should! I do have a habit of writing things down as I’m working – it’s like it makes my brain function better if I’ve got a pen in my hand x
